Dylan Dog: Dead of Night

Werewolves, Vampires, and Zombies, Oh My!!!

Dylan Dog (Brandon Routh) is a Private Investigator whose former employees were the biggest and baddest of the undead world.  His job was simply to maintain peace among the feuding clans.  Recently a new breed of undead has been discovered and It’s only goal is to kill everyone and everything in It’s tracks.  As Dylan tries to uncover who and what this menacing creature is, he’ll discover that time is not on his side since he seems to be the next target.  Saving the world one scary beast at a time is the name of the game in Dylan Dog: Dead of Night.
I’m not ashamed to admit that I like a good fantasy sci-fi movie. I enjoy the feuding dynamic of the different areas of the undead world but Dylan Dog: Dead of Night was just a big disappointment. It had an interesting plot, but basically lacked depth of any kind.  I didn’t buy Brandon Routh as a keeper of the peace among evil vampire villains and werewolves.  His acting was less than mediocre, such a disappointment since I actually thought he did really well in the 2006 Superman Returns. Dylan Dog’s partner in crime, Marcus (Sam Huntington) definitely lent some comic relief to the film but it still wasn’t enough for me to endorse the movie.  With a few fun twists and turns you may find Dylan Dog fun to watch if you are in the mood for a no-brainer movie, but otherwise, skip this action/thriller altogether!

Motherly Advice: I watched Dylan Dog with my filters on medium and I was spared a few expletives, some mild sexual inferences, and quite a few gory fighting scenes.  The latter is what you’ll want to be aware of in this film. There are a lot of fight scenes where Dylan Dog does anything and everything to blow off limbs, and the heads of the undead.  You’ll miss 80% of the gore but even at that I still felt like I was watching a blood bath.  With a lot of really scary zombies and werewolves, I’d say this movie might be a bit much for the youngsters! Ages 16+ for this film.

Trisha~ Still not giving up hope on the cinematic world of Vampires and Werewolves!
