Inception is everything the critics are saying...and more!!
Dom Cobb (Leonardo Dicaprio) is a thief, but not just any ol' thief but one who steals ideas from rich businessmen while they are sleeping, or rather, dreaming. Extraction is what it's called and after getting involved with corporate espionage extracting, Cobb becomes a fugitive and is forced to leave the life that he loves. Years later Cobb is offered one last job to do the impossible: Inception. Instead of extracting an idea, he has to implant one. If he's successful he'll get his life back and have his slate washed clean.
If you are one of those people that enjoy watching movies because it's a chance to turn off your brain, do NOT go see Inception. With layer upon layer of intricate plot design, this movie perfectly replicates the world of inexplicable dreaming. The only thing that could even come close to the brilliant complexity of the storyline is the casting. Leonardo Dicaprio is crazy good--in fact I'd be 100% confident in saying that this is his best movie to date. Oh, and does anyone know where Joseph Gordon-Levitt went, post 3rd Rock from the Sun? Neither do I but he plays Dicaprio's partner in crime, Arthur, and is incredible! Levitt does one fighting scene where, not unlike the first time I saw The Matrix , I had to pick my jaw up off the ground. He's fighting within a dream where these is no gravity and they look like spiders crawling around throwing punches here and there...so cool! There are no rules in dreams and Chris Nolan (director/writer) projects this onto the big screen! Nolan's raw talent has been proven thoughout the last decade! I thought I was impressed after Memento, The Prestige and The Dark Knight hit the cinemas? Inception is on a whole different level! In fact, if you do go see it, I would recommend getting a good night's sleep followed by a big bowl of Wheaties!! You'll need the energy.
Motherly Advice: Inception is rated PG-13 but I honestly think that a lot of teenagers might get lost in the translation. You don't need to worry about any sex scenes and there's only one quasi-mushy scene that's actually more humorous than anything. There are quite a few fighting scenes, lots of blood, lots of guns (and I mean of every shape, shift and color). Oh, and alcohol consumption, lots of it! I was pleasantly surprised though, that there were only a handful of swear words.
It's been three days since I've seen Inception and I still can't get it out of my mind! So thsoe who have seen the movie I want to hear from YOU!
