The Informant!

Mark Whitacre (Matt Damon) knows corn and the ADM corporation like the back of his hand. As part of senior management, he learns about ADM’s international price fixing schemes and decides to work with the FBI to bring his own company down. Based on a true story, The Informant! is an offbeat look at one of the biggest whistleblower cases in U.S. history and the quirky man behind it.

Should I Get Informed?…

Matt Damon turns in a fine performance as the conflicted, complex Mark Whitacre, though the movie drags along at a pace that might lead to drowsiness. It is an atypical comedy and an unusual take on a whistleblower story, focusing on the oddities of the whistleblower more than on the case. Fortunately, Mark’s character gets more interesting as the film progresses, leading to an end more satisfying than the plodding beginning foreshadows.
